Purpose of the Call

The EU seeks next-generation, cost-effective and user-friendly Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools, data and methods fully aligned with the *Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD)* framework and the EC *Product Environmental Footprint (PEF)*. Funded projects must deliver:

1. Scientific evidence to underpin regulations (ESPR, Green Claims, Batteries, CRM Act, etc.).

2. At least three comprehensive LCA datasets for emerging, high socio-economic value substances replacing substances of concern.

3. Advanced digital solutions (AI/ML, modelling, uncertainty analysis) to close data gaps and integrate safety assessments.

4. Planetary-boundary–compatible impact models covering raw material extraction → end-of-life.

5. FAIR data feeding EU platforms (EPLCA) and SME-oriented guidance/training.


Budget Specifics (Lump-Sum)

* EU will disburse a single pre-agreed lump sum based on work packages, not on actual costs.

* Simplifies accounting but demands credible, detailed costing at proposal stage; payments linked to achieved milestones/results.


Eligibility Snapshot
