What is Financed?

* Development, validation and demonstration of bio-based and nature-based solutions (NBS) that enable *rapid, sustainable and inclusive* reconstruction of conflict-affected rural, coastal and urban areas.

* Activities may span TRL 3-6 (proof-of-concept to prototype) and must integrate:

* Circular and cascading use of biomass

* Local valorisation of under-utilised biological residues

* Life-cycle assessment (LCA) to substantiate sustainability claims

* Mandatory task for knowledge sharing with projects under the same topic and other listed calls (e.g. 2023 CIRCBIO-01-06).

* Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH), gender and multi-actor engagement are compulsory.


Policy Alignment

The project must create tangible contributions to:

* European Green Deal

* EU Bioeconomy Strategy

* Climate Adaptation Strategy

* EU enlargement and international partnership policies (incl. humanitarian aid)


Geographic & Partnership Rules

* Consortia must include at least three independent entities from three different eligible countries; the Joint Research Centre (JRC) *may* join.

* Strong incentives exist to involve partners from conflict-affected regions and to maximise international cooperation outside the EU.


Funding Mechanics

* Lump-sum grant – the budget is fixed at proposal stage; no ex-post cost reporting.

* Payments are linked to work-package level deliverables & milestones agreed in the Grant Agreement.
