Strategic Objective

The call supports the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) partnership in *“Advancing AI-readiness and Machine-Actionability (MA) in the EOSC ecosystem”*. Projects must deliver a federated, AI-ready infrastructure that:

1. Integrates machine-actionable repositories with the EOSC EU Node.

2. Provides open protocols for seamless data flow, provenance and MA updates.

3. Offers AI/ML capabilities (training, retraining, inference) and automated quality metrics.

4. Supplies reference platforms & recipes lowering the engineering barrier for researchers.

5. Establishes an EOSC AI/ML Competency Centre for up-skilling, support and long-term sustainability.


Budgeting & Lump-Sum Logic

The European Commission will reimburse *one single lump-sum amount* agreed ex-ante. Consequently:

* Work-Package–level costing accuracy is critical—no ex-post cost reporting.

* Milestones & deliverables must be clear, measurable and auditable.

* Payment schedule is linked to achievement of work-package deliverables, so plan cash-flow carefully.


Legal & IPR Specificities

* Each beneficiary must grant royalty-free access to results to the EOSC Association (*monitoring & policy*).

* Additional non-commercial access rights for EOSC development may be imposed by the granting authority.

* All digital research data produced must be deposited in a *trusted repository federated in EOSC*.


Synergies & Mandatory Coordination

Grants will be formally linked to sister call HORIZON-INFRA-2025-01-EOSC-05 (GenAI4EU) via collaboration agreements. Coordination with ongoing projects (e.g. EOSC Data Commons) and the EOSC governance structure is not optional; it is an explicit Impact criterion.
